Wisdom Hunter by Randall Arthur Review

Wisdom Hunter
by
Randall Arthur

ABOUT THIS BOOK

This rerelease of Randall Arthur's bestselling novel presents the hypocrisy of Christian legalism and a man's search for the only surviving member of his family. The story's hero, Pastor Jason Faircloth, embarks on a journey that lasts eighteen years and takes him through four countries in a quest to find the granddaughter who is being hidden from him. In a process that mirrors our own spiritual journey, he discovers a rich relationship with God and the peace that finally comes with true faith.

My Review:
I could do this review with two words if I wanted too and those two words would be ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!  Randall Arthurs' main character Jason Faircloth is the epitome of the type of pastor that runs a lot of the mega churches today.  Be damned the lost souls banging at the doors, only allow those who can benefit and further man's vision of what God wants in!  If you enjoy a book that starts out full of action and ends in a way you would never expect in a million years, Wisdom Hunter by Randall Arthur is for you!  I cannot give enough stars for the review of this book!

Don't just sit there!  Head over to Random House and pick up your copy today!  I can't wait to pick up a copy of his other book, Jordan's Crossing.

**Disclaimer-Random House provided me with a free copy of Wisdom Hunter for review purposes.**

Shadow Government by Grant R. Jeffrey Review

Shadow Government
How the Secret Global Elite Is Using Surveillance Against You
by Grant R. Jeffrey

ABOUT THIS BOOK

Security cameras, surveillance of your financial transactions, radio frequency spy chips hidden in consumer products, tracking of your Internet searches, and eavesdropping on your e-mail and phone calls. Without your knowledge or consent, every aspect of your life is observed and recorded. But who is watching the watchers?

An ultra-secret global elite, functioning as a very real shadow government, controls technology, finance, international law, world trade, political power, and vast military capabilities. Those who hold power are invisible to all but a few insiders. These unrivaled leaders answer to no earthly authority, and they won’t stop until they control the world.

In Shadow Government, Grant Jeffrey removes the screen that, up to now, has hidden the work of these diabolical agents. Jeffrey reveals the biblical description of Satan’s global conquest and identifies the tools of technology that the Antichrist will use to rule the world.

Your eyes will be opened to the real power that is working behind the scenes to destroy America and merge it into the coming global government. Armed with this knowledge, you will be equipped to face spiritual darkness with the light of prophetic truth.

My Review

Shadow Government by Grant R. Jeffrey is not the typical kind of book I would read.  It's filled with information on different ways the government is watching us and how we are quickly heading into Tribulation times.  I believe that Rapture is going to happen but I also believe that you can live a life waiting to see the wolf in sheeps clothing around every corner.  I'd rather spend my time preparing to be with my Lord and let Him decide when the end of the world will happen.

If you enjoy real life christian romance or rapture prediction type books, this is the book for you!  You can purcase Shadow Government from Random House!

Relish! Time. Food. Life. Review and Giveaway

This Giveaway is now CLOSED!

The lucky winner for the Relish! Menus is:

Anne J.!

Wow, wow, wow!  Today is your lucky day!!!

(Winner has 48 hours to contact me or another winner will be chosen)

Until we can all afford our own personal chefs, the next best thing is easily Relish!, a truly cool meal-planning service for busy parents. I was given an opportunity to have a look at the Relish! menu planning website and I fell in love!  I jumped on the 30 day free pass to get an in depth look at what all Relish! had to offer...how's this sound to you?  AFFORDABLE weekly menu plans for the whole family!  Ready to go grocery lists!  Did you catch the fact the meals are AFFORDABLE!  I have looked at other menu planning sites and they are preparing food that first, my kids would NEVER eat and second, that when I was done at the grocery store, I had completely blown my budget.  No more with Relish!

Along with your weekly menu that you get to choose your meals, but Relish! also sends you a newsletter that gives you tips for getting your family to eat healthier.  Check out these tips on getting your kids to eat their vegetables:

Here is a list of strategies and tips that we’ve found work for a lot people. If you have picky eaters, peruse this list and perhaps you’ll find one or two strategies that actually work. Don’t get discouraged and don’t give up.
  • The number one rule is to be patient. Studies show that it takes 10-20 “encounters” with a particular vegetable to get your child to tolerate it.

  • It’s just as much about texture with vegetables as the taste. Soggy, dingy vegetables are a big turn-off with kids. Steam your vegetables just until cooked but make sure they are still crunchy and colorful. Putting vegetables in an ice bath after cooking keeps the color bright.

  • Kids like raw vegetables! Cut up some carrot sticks, cucumber rounds, cherry tomatoes, and sliced bell peppers and serve with ranch dressing or even hummus. You can even make a face using the cucumber rounds for the eyes, carrot sticks for eyebrows, cherry tomatoes for nose and mouth and arrange the pepper strips to form the face. You can even drizzle ranch dressing as the hair. I know it’s a lot of work but might be worth it.

  • Using your blender or food processor, puree vegetables (like broccoli, carrots, beans) and include them in spaghetti sauce, hamburgers and soups. Begin introducing muffins and breads with carrots and zucchini and other vegetables.

  • Start with sweeter veggies like corn, beans and peas. Slowly introduce bitter vegetables like asparagus, Brussels sprouts and kale later.

  • Make the “no thank-you bite” a strict rule at the table. Tell your kids they have to have one small bite of the vegetables every night.

  • Set a good example. If kids see you eating healthy vegetables, it’s much easier to teach them.

  • Kids love stir-fry. As long as you keep the vegetables crisp, kids tend to really gravitate towards stir-fried meals. Add crunchy water chestnuts and/or nuts to it. Same goes with pasta and soups. Remember to keep the veggies crisp and colorful!

  • Introduce good healthy foods and vegetables at a very early age, it will pay off in the end. And never make a separate meal for your kids, it makes more work for you and might backfire when your kids get older.
Here is a sample menu for you to check out...you'll want to go look because that is one of the required entries for the giveaway!

Here is what Relish! offers you:

  • Each week you choose five entrees to make for the week.

  • All dinners are kitchen-tested (no more disasters) and take 30 minutes or less prep.

  • The comprehensive grocery list makes grocery shopping a snap.

  • A Relish! subscription is only $7 per month.

  • Monthly freezer menus are included in the subscription, plus much more.

Kiss Me Again by Barbara Wilson Review

RandomHouse.com sent me a copy of the book Kiss Me Again by Barbara Wilson to review.  Little did I know that this book was going to be the change in my life that I had been searching for for a long time.  If you have ever gone to my personal blog Faith on Fire and read my testimony, you know I have a sexual past that is not good.  Through abuse, promiscuity, and addiction, I was carrying around guilt that was very, very old and it was affecting my marriage.  Kiss Me Again has helped me to heal my marriage, give me tools to keep my marriage bed sacred and released me from years of guilt that I have been carrying around since I was a child.

Here is the book description:
Do you ever wonder why marriage can seem like the end of intimacy and sexual desire instead of the beginning?

Ever wonder why it was so hard to resist sex before marriage—and so easy to resist it now? If so, you’re not alone! Many married women genuinely want to feel more desire toward their husbands…and can’t figure out what went wrong. But there’s good news. In Kiss Me Again, Barbara Wilson shows how powerful “invisible bonds” from past relationships can cause heartache, disappointment, and distance for couples in the present. Then—with sensitivity, honesty, and hope—Barbara walks you step by step toward healing…and a rekindling of the closeness and passion with your husband that you really want.

You don’t have to live any longer with confusion, disappointment, resentment, or shame. You can rediscover desire. You can say Wow! again.

The Well-Behaved Child by John Rosemond

There are about a billion parenting books out there, and sometime, I think I've read most of them, but The Well-Behaved Child by John Rosemond is different.  First of all, Mr. Rosemond is real...meaning, its not all about getting on the child's level, time out, and using a question at the end of a sentence type of child correction!  Mr. Rosemond empowers the parent to become the parent again and free's the child to be a child again through solid guidance and rules.

Mr. Rosemond takes the new "behavior modification" method and rewrites how children need to have rules, serious limitations and parents deserve respect, no matter what.  He's very clear that there is a solid difference between loving discipline and abuse and makes sure you know it too.

Here's the book description from The Well-Behaved Child:

A parenting workshop in a book!

The biggest frustration felt by today's parents is in the area of discipline. Family psychologist, best-selling author, and parenting expert John Rosemond uses his thirty-six years of professional experience working with families to develop the quintessential "how to" book for parents. Rosemond's step-by-step program, based on biblical principles, traditional parenting approaches, and common sense, covers a wide range of discipline problems applicable to children from toddler to teen.

Sections include:
* Essential Discipline Principles
* Essential Discipline Tools
* Perplexing Problems and Simple Solutions
* Not Your Everyday Problems
* General Questions and Answers

Filled with real-life examples that anyone who's ever been around children can relate to, this book is sure to be one of the most valuable, helpful resources parents have ever stumbled across.

I personally cannot recommend this book enough!  You can pick up a copy at The Thomas Nelson website or any bookstore!

Disclaimer:  Thomas Nelson sent me a free copy of The Well-Behaved Child to review.

Extraordinary The Life You're Meant to Live by John Bevere Book Review

**RandomHouse.com sent me a free copy of Extraordianry The Life You're Meant to Live for review.**

Details of the book:

Isn’t it true that we long to see the extraordinary, experience the extraordinary, do the extraordinary? Yet, so often we settle for mediocrity when greatness is within our grasp.

Why are we drawn to stories of heroic triumph over seemingly impossible circumstances? In our fascination with adventure movies, superheroes, and tales of incredible human feats, do we reveal an inherent desire for something larger and greater in life? Maybe what we think is a need to escape or be entertained is actually a God inspired longing…for the extraordinary.

Best-selling author John Bevere reveals how all of us were “meant for more,” extraordinarily created and intended for a life that is anything but ordinary. Here is the roadmap for your journey of transformation. You are marked for a life that far surpasses the usual definitions of success or fulfillment.

Isn’t it time to pursue your extraordinary life?

My Review:

Yeah for this book!  Extraordinary was an amazingly encouraging book that didn't cross the line into "if you pray to be rich, God will provide" type inspiration!  I was extremely please with the thought provoking questions at the end of each chapter and the in depth, "real" view on how God wants us to be more than even we think we can be.

Mr. Bevere offers a well written commentary on how our God loves us all, but may not always be proud of who we are.  Giving examples of how God encourages us and speaks to us about opportunities to expand His kingdom and the results of what we do are inspiring.

If your looking for a book that will encourage you but keep you on the straight and narrow path, go pick up a hardback copy, eBook. or  unabridged audiobook download of Extraordinary The Life You're Meant to Live by John Bevere at randomhouse.com

Mandisa's He is with you

In truth, God is always close to those who genuinely seek after him. The real problem is that we drift away from him, lose interest, and leave his presence. So let's seek him and receive his grace and his help while we recognize that he alone is the one who truly saves.

Fill In & Finish Blog Hop

Fill in the blanks:

You just found out you have one week to live. The first person you call is Nick and say come home now. Immediately after hanging up the phone, you leave the doctors office and before heading home you go to pieces  so you can be calm while telling my family.

You gather your family at home that night and say I love you  then all of you together pray.

You book a three day trip to three different places because you've always wanted to Florida, Washington and Montana. On the way back from your trip you stop off at Texas to see my Dad and Step Mom because you've been meaning to for a long time.

For two more days you spend your time reading the bible, writing letters to my children and husband, and spending time with my family. You make sure you tell each family how much they mean to me, make sure the family is financially set and plan my funeral... three things you know you should have taken care of but have been putting off.

The final day is too personal to write about but you wonder to yourself: why did I have to get a death notice before I finally did all those things this week?

The reason I'll probably keeping putting off all those things is I always say I'm too busy but it's never too late to change.

Morning Sunshine! How to Radiate Confidence and Feel It Too By Robin Meade

I was sent the book, Morning Sunshine!  How to Radiate Confidence and Feel It Too by Robin Meade.  I was looking forward to reading a book on building my confidence and to help with the whole anxiety thing when I speak.  The author is very real with you about her experiences with anxiety and she gave little tips throughout the book on how to deal with a variety of situations.

Here is a description of the book:

Robin Meade is the poster child for confidence and self-assurance. But the anchor of Morning Express with Robin Meade wasn't always that way. In fact, there was a period in her career when she was plagued with anxiety and panic attacks. In MORNING SUNSHINE, she tells how she overcame her fear of public speaking to go on and achieve her dream of becoming a news anchor.

Robin Meade offers her own tried-and-true four-step approach to building confidence. Her trademark warm, personal style translates from the screen to the page in this book, which will give readers even more insight into the young woman who came out of nowhere to become one of the most popular news anchors on television today.

If you don't mind cussing, this is a good book to read.  I really enjoyed the book until I reached a chapter with the word b*tch in it.  It's just not me, but if you don't care about language, pick up the book.  Follow this LINK to get a glimpse inside of the book:)

Thank you to Hachette Book Group for giving me the opportunity to read this book and review it!
