Book Synopsis:
Who are your heroes?
Bestselling novelist Brad Meltzer has long pondered this question, and when his first child was born eight years ago, he decided to put pen to paper. The result is Heroes for My Son, his first nonfiction work, just released this month. A passion project in the truest sense, in the book Meltzer profiles 52 of his personal heroes and offers insight into why he has found these individuals so inspirational, and how their stories demonstrate what it means to be heroic in everyday life.
My Viewpoint:
Have you ever read one of those books that makes you think "this is a keeper." That is what I thought when I read
Heroes for My Son. This book made me look at different folks from a whole new light. Reading words, some well known and other obscure that they have spoken, was refreshing, enlightening, and provoking.
One of my favorite quotes is about the Wright Brothers.
"Every day, they knew they'd fail.
Every time they'd go out to fly-every time- they brought extra materials because they knew their fledgling design would crash.
Crash and rebuild. Crash and rebuild.
But never ever, ever give up."
What amazing encouragement to give to you child as they go through life's struggles! We've all been there when the chips are down and we are begging God to show us the way clearly...and still He makes us wait. Scripture first, but then Heroes for My Son by Brad Meltzer is a good second when you just don't know what to say.
More than a gift book, Heroes for My Son is a book you'll want to keep on your shelves to use for future reference.
