Decorating in 2012

My husband and I have some "goals" to reach in 2012 and one of the biggest one's is doing some decorating in our home.  We moved in last July and have LOVED having more room with a huge covered deck and a big backyard for the kids and dogs to play in.  But we've been living in our vanilla house for 6 months and we are ready to start working on making it our own.

Part of decorating is finding the best deals out there!  I was given the opportunity to check out and review Become.com website and I'm pretty excited that we may have found a resource to use in our decorating adventures!  Let me show you around...

One of the rooms we'll be focusing on is the Master Bedroom.  I know that most people start with the living room and dining room because this is where people see, but I'm a big believer in having a sanctuary to go to at the end of the day with your beloved.  After browsing through Become.com light selection,  I stumbles upon these cute little "mood" lights.

I thought these would offer a soft ambient light along the top of our wall of bookcases that are in our bedroom.  What do you think?

Another space we are looking at improving upon is our main bath.  We have full bathrooms in our house, but one is brand new because they added it when we bought the house.  But we do have the main bath and it could use some revamping.  One of my dream items is a Vessel Sink!  I just love the way they look!

I really adore the simplicity of this particular sink but Become.com offers a HUGE selection of different styles and depths.

Why don't you take a look around their website and come back and tell me one thing you'd love to have in your house!?  Even if its just to dream of rooms in your house or if you are actually jumping into the redecorating world, what would you choose?

Have a blessed day!

Yesteryear's Soap Review

I was really excited when I was given the opportunity to review Yesteryear Soap!  I just love the smell and feel of block soaps that are hand made!  The richness and texture just makes me happy!

Yesteryear Soap generously sent me three beautiful bars of soap.  Mango Papaya, Mississippi Mud and Cherry Almond.  In the Mango Papaya, you can see chunks of fruit and the color is so beautiful!  I love the fact that the lather from the soaps washes away clean and not only leaves my hands smelling clean but also leaves behind a lovely scent in my bathroom.

Here's a little bit of information about Yesteryear's Soap:

What Makes YesterYear Soap "Natural" Soap?
Surprisingly, there is no clear definition of 'Natural'. However, we take a common sense approach to the term. Quite simply, we add no artificial substances to our soaps, such as dyes, parabins and preservatives, and where possible, we use organically grown products.  Our products contain no detergents, alcohol's, propylene glycol and other chemicals commonly found in commercially blended 'soap'. To really see what we mean, take a look at the labels of so called 'soap' at the supermarket the you next time you go to the store and compare them to the ingredients of our soaps.  Your skin will know the difference.

Discount for YOU!

Yesteryear Soap has offered a 30% discount to my readers!  All you have to do is put in faithonfyre in the coupon area and you get to try this beautiful soap at a sweet little discount!

*Disclosure-I was provided with three bars of homemade soap by Yesteryear Soap Company to review and give my honest opinion.

A Christmas Wedding Tail Movie Review

Movie Synopsis:

A Christmas Wedding Tail (SRP $19.98) is the story of a pair of passionate pooches, Labrador Rusty (voiced by Jay Mohr, “Ghost Whisperer”, “Jerry McGuire”) and Poodle Cheri (voiced by Nikki Cox, “Unhappily Ever After”, “Las Vegas”), who fall head-over-tails in love.  The two smitten pups conspire to get their respective owners, Susan (Jennie Garth, “Beverly Hills 90210”, “What I Like About You”, Girl, Positive) and Jake (Brad Rowe, Your Love Never FailsNational Treasure: Book of Secrets, “General Hospital”) to wed.  Despite Susan’s and Jake’s compatibility, their new blended family – with five kids! – turns out to be more than Rusty and Cheri had bargained for.  Now, the calculating canines must put their poochie powers to the test to keep their family from ending up in the dog house….  A Christmas Wedding Tail proves that a little puppy love can go a long way

My point of view:

A Christmas Wedding Tail was "cute" but sadly not a keeper.  The acting was fine but the filming seemed to be done on the cheap.  I have no issues with the movie theme and actually wanted to give this movie a chance but was let down.

The dog characters are a part of the movie but definitely not leads.  The banter between Susan and Jake was what you expect in movies these days that try and incorporate a good story without offending anyone.  I'm a huge fan of movies that aren't filled with cussing and intimate relations but this movie just fell flat.

A good rental movie but definitely wouldn't recommend buying this movie.

*Disclosure-I was provided a free copy of A Christmas Wedding Tail to review and give my honest opinion.

Getting Ebates

Posted by Heriberto Fuentes

I checked my e-mail this morning using my clear wireless internet connection. I had gotten an e-mail from a friend about a website that I had never heard of. It was called Ebates.com. Basically, it is a good website that compares prices, shows specials, and has good coupon codes. My friend said that she had seen it on a blog this morning. She had done her Christmas shopping early on-line before she saw this site. Now, she is kicking herself. She said she added up her potential savings if she had visited the site before shopping and that she would have saved two hundred dollars! That is a ton of money! I am definitely going to make sure that I check out ebates.com and scour the internet for coupon codes before I do any of my Christmas shopping next week. Knowing that you could have saved money on something and you didn’t makes me sick! Getting a good deal and save money gives me a great feeling! Point of the story, do your research before you shop!

Our Guilty Pleasure-Switched at Birth

Okay, so Tori (my daughter) and I are totally in love with the series Switched at Birth!  What?  You haven't heard of it!?!?!  Okay, here's a little clip to introduce  you to two of the characters, Bay and Emmett:

I love this show!  There are times I want to put these girls in time out but they do teach some good lessons on what is important and what isn't.  Yes, there is some kissing with the teens but overall I give this show an A+!

What's the show about:

Bay Kennish, a talented graffiti artist with an edgy streak, grew up in a wealthy family with happily married parents and an older brother. Daphne Vasquez, an athletic teenager who lost her hearing at an early age, grew up with a single mother in a working class neighborhood. When the girls’ worlds collide, family bonds are tested, new romances are sparked, and they start to learn that it’s who they are inside that matters, not where they grew up.

Why men hate going to church Book Review

I received Why Men Hate Going to Church by David Murrow and was excited to sit down with my husband and read it together.  I barely got the first paragraph read before my husband took over the book and basically read it all in one night.  Nick (my husband) was thrilled with this book!  He kept coming over and reading snippets from the book about why men find church "feminine" and uncomfortable.

This book hits hard at what the church has become, basically feminine and very UN masculine!  Men are encouraged to put down their masculinity and pick up a woman's perspective when it comes to activities, worship and even preaching IN the church.  One of the great examples given is worship.  You can take basically any contemporary christian song and switch our the word God or Jesus for Baby.  Seriously, give it a try.  Men aren't drawn to that type of music!  The author challenges the reader to think about how men prefer simple songs that speak about how our God is strong and just.

Men's Ministries have been made feminine for the comfort of the women in the church.  One particular church had a group of men that would take chain saws around the neighborhood during bad weather and clear out broken tree limbs and clear out drive ways.  This group was VERY successful until a woman started to complain because she wanted to participate.  She complained that it wasn't fair that the men wouldn't let her be apart of the group. Never mind that this was specifically FOR MEN!  Why is it women feel they have to be a part of everything?  Hearing about this particular case made me mad and I'm a woman!

I strongly recommend this for women who have spouses that don't want to go to church with them.  Its a great way to look at church through his eyes and see if you see some of the same issues.  Ladies, let your men be men!  Its a beautiful gift when we step out of the way and watch them go and do as God has commanded them.

Book Description
It’s Sunday morning. Where are all the men? Golfing? Playing softball? Watching the tube? Mowing the lawn? Sleeping? One place you won’t find them is in church. Less than 40 percent of adults in most churches are men, and 20 to 25 percent of married church going women attend without their husbands. And why are the men who do go to church so bored? Why won’t they let God change their hearts?
David Murrow’s groundbreaking book has been completely revised and updated, with eye-opening research and a persuasive grasp on the facts, to explain the problem and offer hope and encouragement to women, pastors, and men. Why Men Hate Going to Church does not call men back to the church—it calls the church back to men.
